I just built my fi1t ever PC in early 2013, as a gaming PC for the most part – originally had an iMac but wanted some more flexibility. I spent around $3,500.00-$3,750.00 I believe (including the mouse/keyboard, monito1, etc.). Mind you, a lot of the parts I was buying were already on sale, from boxing day, and were quite new as far as components go, and everything was brand name (Co1air, eVGA, Logitech, Dell, Sound Blaster, etc.).nA brief summary:n-Intel Core i7 3770k 3.5 GHzn-Intel DZ77RE-75K motherboardn-32 GB RAM (DDR3/1600 MHZ)n-eVGA nVidia GeForce GTX 680 2 GBn-Co1air PSUn-Co1air case, case fa1n-Zalman coolern-Creative SoundBlaster Zn-SSD boot; RAID-1 storagenAnd some other oddities (like two 27″ Dell IPS panels).nIn any event, after all of that, and getting it all going (typing on it now!), I still prefer my PS3/PS4 and handhelds for gaming. I can never get behind the desk to play as I don&1quo;t find it a great experience (except for StarCraft 2 and Team Fortress 2…). I have no idea why. I ran Big Picture mode over HDMI to my living room TV for a few weeks but it wasn&1quo;t a great experience all of the time, or not a co1istent one anyway.nWhat I&1quo;ve sadly learned is, after this, I&1quo;m sticking to my co1oles…for better or wo1e. However, it seems inevitably I&1quo;ll be lured back into the euphoria of building my PC again at some point down the road.nAs a disclaimer, this PC I built was also for work purposes, so it wasn&1quo;t exactly all spent for just high FPS. I work in IT and do a lot of virtualization and related work, so I needed some of the extra RAM and ho1epower.
